We go way back
That is, the groom, Gerard, and I do. So what's funny is that I was photographing a wedding last summer when I saw Gerard. He was a groomsman in this wedding since his at-the-time-fiancé (Steph) was the groom's sister. You're following, right? Great.
So anyway, I recognize Gerard, introduce myself, and we had that OMG moment of having a blast from the past. See, we went to high school together. He was two grades above me, but it was a small school system so everyone knew everyone. After having an incredible day photographing that wedding, Gerard introduced me to Steph, asked if I'd be interested in photographing their wedding the follow year, and now here we are.
That's kind of a typical story for me, honestly. I love when old connections pop back up in my life and we have a full-circle moment.
So anyway: Gerard and Steph
In typical New England weekend fashion this year, we got rained out for most of the day until the skies cleared during the reception, just in time for the guests to enjoy custom cigars, a Photo Booth in a cutie little camper van, and a bonfire to end off the night. Inside, there were vintage Pac-Man games disguised in barrels that suited the rest of their shabby chic decor in the Barn on Benson's Pond. And most importantly, Steph and Gerard's dogs were in attendance for the ceremony so that in itself made the wedding a 10/10.
The custom cigars were provided by Matchsticks and were an absolute hit with the guests throughout the night. You can tell that Matt, the owner, is so knowledgeable about cigars and passionate about his business which makes the experience he provides absolutely incredible.
And if it wasn't obvious enough as it was that Steph and Gerard have excellent taste, they hired the best of the best for their DJ, Spike Events, which was also who provided the super cool Pac-Man games and retro Photo Booth. I have a high bar for wedding DJs, and let me tell you, Spike Events delivers. Seriously. Hire them. Also the Photo Booth was way too cute honestly.
It's always an honor to be chosen as someone's wedding photographer, but when it was extra special to be chosen for this incredible wedding. Congratulations again, Steph and Gerard! XO
